New trail!

I went to a trail near my house to do my 3 mile easy run on Thursday. I always thought that it ended at a certain point where it turns into a paved path and loops back to the road. As it turns out however, it actually keeps going if you pass underneath this bridge. Which is super cool because it makes it twice as long and ends on a pier out in the water with a beautiful view! I didn’t have my phone with me, so no pics, but it did inspire me to knock out my five-miler instead of stopping at three :) Definitely one of my favorite runs this summer.

From my very successful 15k yesterday. Totally killed it, beating my best long run pace/goal pace by 40 seconds :D

In two hours, I’ll be running in a 15k race, aka the longest race I’ve ever done by 5+ miles, aah! BUT, I’ve developed a little ritual this summer of starting every race playlist with “Stereo Heart” and guess what song was on the radio when my alarm went off!? I’ll take it as a good sign :)

Running on the Sun - Badwater Ultra documentary

Watched this whole thing last, so addicting. That is some crazy shit!

Better late than never…

I haven’t been keeping up with updating my workouts very well on here, but rest assured I’ve been doing them! As you can see from my workout calendar, my schedule took a bit off a beating during my California trip, but it was sooo worth it! Amazing trip :) I was a little out of my routine when I got back, but I had a race scheduled two days after, so that got me right back into the swing of things.

Other highlights include my first-ever double digit run! I felt surprisingly good on my ten-miler and was pleased with my time. Huge confidence booster for the half, for sure. On Friday, I had a 5k in one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. I missed my goal time due to the sudden influx of humid, hot weather and a 7-mile run the day before, but I still PR’d!

Next up is a 15k race tomorrow for Labor Day. This will be my last long run before my half marathon. It’s technically at the beginning of my taper, so I’m going to take it easy and use it as a test run to perfect my run/walk ratio, fueling, etc. It’s supposed to rain and possibly storm tomorrow, but hopefully it doesn’t get too bad. This morning there was a crazy thunderstorm that knocked out our power for a few hours, so maybe we already paid our penance?
